Founder Story

Jason Jones JR Jones Racing

I am a Wilmington, North Carolina native with lifelong ties to the motorsports lifestyle, a deep love for performance vehicles, and a hands-on background that naturally turned into building JR Jones Racing. What started as real cam swap and DOD delete work became a tuning business, an ecommerce store, and eventually a full customer workflow I built myself from the ground up.

How This Grew

I started the shop in 2021 and spent a lot of time filming cam swaps, DOD delete jobs, and tuning-related content. People kept watching the videos, asking questions, and then asking if I would sell them the tune files for their own builds.

That demand is what pushed me into building my first ecommerce store. What you see now is the third revision of that idea, sharpened around how real customers shop, upload their files, and get support from a one-man business that actually understands the work. At the same time, I am still tuning and turning wrenches locally on a much smaller scale through Cape Fear Cams.

Built From Real Shop Work

JR Jones Racing did not start from some corporate template. It started from doing the actual work, learning what customers truly needed, and then building a business around solving those problems better. Cam swaps, DOD delete jobs, drivability fixes, tune revisions, and customer support all shaped the way this business operates.

I still keep a foot in the hands-on side of the business too. Through Cape Fear Cams, I still handle local cam swap and DOD delete work on a smaller scale, which keeps me tied directly to the real-world side of the builds these customers are working on.

I am a GM LS specialist, but the bigger point is that the products and services here come from real-world experience. The tuning side of the business grew because people trusted the work they saw and wanted access to the same knowledge for their own vehicles.

  • Hands-on cam swap and DOD delete experience behind the files being sold.
  • YouTube viewers asking for tune files is what pushed the business into ecommerce.
  • Still doing select local work through Cape Fear Cams, not just selling online.
  • Still built around practical results, drivability, and helping customers get their vehicle right.

Built As A Father And Builder

I am also the father of an 11-year-old daughter named Skyla, and that matters to how I look at business. Everything here has been built with a long-term mindset: work hard, keep learning, keep improving, and build something real that can support the people depending on you.

That same mentality shows up in how I run the store. I am passionate about the automotive industry, motorsports, performance, tech, computers, coding, and building systems that actually make life easier for customers instead of more confusing.

  • Small one-man business with a very personal stake in doing things right.
  • Focused on honest communication, practical solutions, and better customer flow.
  • Still driven by a huge hunger to learn, build, refine, and keep growing.
Beyond Automotive

Building Software To Protect People

One thing that says a lot about who I am is that I do not just care about automotive work. I also care deeply about using technology to solve real problems. That is part of why I taught myself websites, code, scripts, and software systems in the first place.

I have spent time developing software focused on helping protect the elderly from online scams and digital abuse. That project reflects the same mindset behind JR Jones Racing: learn what is broken, build something useful, and keep refining it until it genuinely helps people.

That software project lives at GuardianDeskPro, and it is another piece of the bigger story here. I am not just selling products online. I am constantly building tools, systems, and software that solve practical problems for real people.
