Why this page exists

Manual, automatic, AFM, VVT and converter details matter

An LS3 manual, L99 automatic, LT1, and LT4 Camaro need different strategies. The builder keeps those details attached to the product path instead of treating every Camaro cam tune as interchangeable.

1998–2002 LS1

Gen III LS1 Camaro and Trans Am combinations with supported Stage 2 and cam-specific tune products.

2010–2015 LS3 / L99

Manual LS3 and automatic L99 setups with cam stage, AFM/VVT state, converter, transmission, intake, and exhaust details.

2016+ LT1 / LT4

Direct-injected Gen V Camaro combinations, including supported forced-induction and injector configurations through the custom path.

Camaro calibration guide

Match the Camaro generation, engine and transmission.

Camaro cam tuning spans cable-throttle Gen III cars, Gen IV LS3/L99 combinations and direct-injected Gen V LT engines. A file chosen only by chassis or displacement can carry the wrong controller, operating system, transmission segments, airflow model, fuel data and torque strategy. The builder separates those platforms before presenting a product.

1998–2002

LS1 / Gen III

Provide the PCM/OS, engine and injector data, MAF, cam card, transmission, clutch or converter, rear gear, tire size, intake and exhaust. A Camaro LS1 file should not be assumed compatible with another Gen III platform.

2010–2015

LS3 Manual

The manual-transmission LS3 path depends on the exact cam, clutch, airflow, fuel, exhaust, gearing and intended use. Idle behavior must be built around the actual engine rather than copied from an automatic L99.

2010–2015

L99 Automatic

L99 applications add AFM, VVT, converter and automatic-transmission considerations. State whether the delete hardware is installed and whether the phaser is retained, limited, locked or removed.

2016+

LT1 / LT4

Direct injection, Gen V torque modeling and controller security require a platform-specific path. Include high- and low-side fuel-system details for cammed, ethanol or forced-induction combinations.

Cammed automatic details

List converter brand and stall, transmission, rear gear, tire size, vehicle weight and intended use. A larger cam changes idle vacuum and low-speed torque, so an incorrect converter or transmission assumption can make an otherwise reasonable engine calibration behave poorly in gear.

Cammed manual details

List clutch, gearing, tire size, idle target preferences and whether the vehicle must retain specific accessory and low-speed behavior. The goal is controlled airflow and predictable drivability—not simply the most aggressive idle sound.

Catalog organization:Remote tunes and downloadable files stay separate from physical camshafts. Internal tune add-ons and MPVI bundles never appear as standalone product cards.

Select the vehicle and camshaft, choose the tune type, then add only the modifications supported by that path.

Tuning device required: You must have an HP Tuners MPVI2, MPVI3, or MPVI4, or an EFI Live device supported for your vehicle. J.R. Jones Racing LLC does not currently support RTD or TDN devices. RTD/TDN support is planned for the future. Check device requirements. Need an interface? You can add an HP Tuners MPVI4 to your tune at the bottom of this builder if you would like to purchase one through J.R. Jones Racing LLC. Vehicle credits are sold separately.

Questions specific to this page.

Every structured answer below is also visible to customers. No hidden FAQ content is added for search engines.

Why are LS3 and L99 Camaro tunes different?

LS3 applications are commonly manual, while L99 applications commonly add an automatic transmission, AFM, VVT and converter requirements.

What do you need for a Camaro cam tune?

Provide the stock read, exact engine/controller, cam card, transmission, converter or clutch, AFM/VVT state, fuel, intake, exhaust, gear and tire size.

Can I use a Corvette LS3 file in a Camaro?

Do not assume compatibility. Vehicle, controller, OS, transmission and segment differences must be checked.

Are LT1 and LT4 supported?

Supported Gen V combinations must appear in the builder or product requirements and need complete direct-injection and controller details.

Can a forced-induction Camaro use Base Tune?

Modified boosted combinations generally belong on the Custom Remote Tune path unless the exact product says otherwise.

Does a stage label identify the cam?

No. Provide the manufacturer, part number or cam card because stage names are not standardized.

Do automatic cars need converter details?

Yes. Converter behavior affects idle load, low-speed torque and drivability.

Are physical cams kept separate?

Yes. Physical camshafts and kits appear in the Camshafts section, separate from tune products and instant files.
