HP Tuners stock-read workflow

How to Read, Save & Send Your HP Tuners File

Read the vehicle that is actually being tuned, save the untouched stock file, and upload it through your private Tune Portal after checkout. Do not write a complete file from another vehicle to yours.

1
Use stable battery supportKeep voltage steady through the complete read and every write.
2
Read your own vehicleConnect the supported MPVI interface and read the installed ECM and TCM when applicable.
3
Keep the stock file untouchedSave a clearly named original before comparing or changing anything.

Five simple steps

Read Once. Save It Clearly. Upload It Securely.

Use the current supported HP Tuners VCM Suite. The exact controller list can vary by vehicle, so read the ECM and the TCM whenever the supported workflow presents both.

1. Connect & Prepare

Connect the supported MPVI2, MPVI3, or MPVI4 interface, place the vehicle on stable battery support, and turn the key on with the engine off when prompted.

2. Open VCM Editor

Open HP Tuners VCM Editor, choose Flash, then Read Vehicle. Confirm the interface and supported controllers shown for the vehicle.

3. Complete the Read

Read the entire supported ECM and TCM data without disconnecting the interface, cycling the key early, or allowing battery voltage to fall.

4. Save the Original

Save the untouched file with the year, vehicle, customer name, and STOCK in the filename. Keep a separate backup that is never edited.

5. Upload After Checkout

For a Base or Full Custom Remote Tune, upload the stock read and complete build details through the private Tune Portal connected to the order.

Using a Downloadable File?
