Texas Speed Stage 2 · 1998–2002 Camaro LS1

Camaro LS1 Stage 2 Cam Tune File

This is a pre-written performance tune file built for 1998–2002 Chevrolet Camaro 5.7L LS1 cars running a Texas Speed Stage 2 camshaft or similar street performance LS1 cam setup.

This calibration is designed for real cammed LS1 drivability — smoother idle control, better throttle response, corrected fueling, proper airflow modeling, improved part-throttle manners, and strong midrange/top-end performance.

This is not a random pulled file. Your tune is built around your factory read file, operating system, engine, transmission, injector data, cam setup, and full modification list.

1998–2002 Camaro 5.7L LS1 Texas Speed Stage 2 Street Performance HP Tuners / EFI Live

Stage 2 LS1 Tune Built for Real Street Driving

The Texas Speed Stage 2 LS1 cam is a strong street cam, but it needs the tune handled correctly. Stock-style calibrations usually struggle with idle surge, hanging RPM, bucking, poor cold starts, incorrect airflow, and fuel trims that are all over the place.

  • Built specifically for 1998–2002 Camaro LS1 platforms
  • Designed around Texas Speed Stage 2 camshaft setups
  • Corrects idle airflow, spark, fueling, throttle response, and drivability
  • Supports common bolt-ons like headers, cold air intake, exhaust, and intake manifold upgrades
  • Built from your actual factory read file — not a one-size-fits-all upload
  • Available for HP Tuners and EFI Live users

Vehicle Compatibility

  • 1998–2002 Chevrolet Camaro 5.7L LS1
  • Automatic and manual transmission cars
  • Factory PCM Gen III LS1 applications
  • Stock bottom-end LS1 cars
  • Cammed and bolt-on LS1 street builds
  • Similar 1998–2002 Firebird / Trans Am LS1 setups

Camshaft Compatibility

  • Texas Speed Stage 2 LS1 camshaft
  • Similar Stage 2 LS1 street cams
  • Moderate chop / street performance cam profiles
  • Cammed LS1 cars with headers and intake upgrades
  • Manual or automatic setups with proper supporting mods

What This Tune Fixes

  • Cammed LS1 idle surge, hunting, and stalling
  • Hard starts and poor cold start behavior
  • Dead pedal feel after cam swap
  • Bucking and poor low-speed drivability
  • Incorrect VE / MAF airflow modeling
  • Fuel trims caused by camshaft airflow changes
  • Lazy throttle response and weak part-throttle power
  • Incorrect idle spark, base running airflow, and throttle follower behavior
  • Rear oxygen sensor and catalyst related codes when requested for off-road setups

Recommended Build Setup

  • Texas Speed Stage 2 LS1 camshaft or similar
  • Correct valve springs installed for camshaft lift
  • Correct pushrod length verified
  • Long tube headers recommended
  • Cold air intake or free-flowing intake system
  • Healthy fuel pump and injectors
  • Properly sealed intake and exhaust system

Supported Tuning Platforms

  • HP Tuners MPVI2 / MPVI3 / MPVI4
  • EFI Live V2 for supported Gen III applications
  • Windows laptop required
  • Customer must be able to read and flash their own file
  • HP Tuners credits or EFI Live licensing required
  • Battery charger recommended during flashing

What We Need From You After Purchase

  • Email your stock read file to Tunes@JRJonesRacing.com
  • Include your order number
  • Include year, make, model, engine size, and transmission
  • List your camshaft, valve springs, injectors, intake, headers, exhaust, gear ratio, tire size, and converter if automatic
  • Tell us if rear O2 sensors, catalyst codes, or other off-road changes are needed
  • Typical turnaround is minutes to 24 hours depending on workload

Good For

  • Texas Speed Stage 2 camshaft setups
  • Cammed LS1 F-body cars
  • Manual transmission LS1 cars
  • Automatic LS1 cars with bolt-ons

  • Incorrectly installed camshafts
  • Boosted or nitrous setups unless custom details are provided
  • This product is intended for customers who have access to HP Tuners, EFI Live, or a supported flashing device. If you need help choosing the right option, contact JR Jones Racing before purchase.

Performance & Build Responsibility Notice

This is not a stock tune. This is a performance calibration designed for modified vehicles running a camshaft and supporting parts.

You are responsible for making sure your build quality is up to par before flashing or running this tune. Your engine, valvetrain, fuel system, drivetrain, wiring, sensors, injectors, exhaust, and all supporting parts must be correctly installed, mechanically sound, and capable of handling increased performance.

Poor installation, worn parts, incorrect valve spring setup, wrong pushrod length, weak fuel supply, vacuum leaks, exhaust leaks, bad sensors, or unsafe mechanical condition can cause drivability issues or engine damage that no tune can fix.

J.R. Jones Automotive & Performance is not liable for engine failure, drivetrain damage, PCM/ECU damage, or any issue caused by poor build quality, improper installation, unsafe flashing practices, incorrect customer-supplied information, or misuse of this tune.

Secure Flashing Reminder

Always flash using a hard-wired USB connection. Do not flash over weak connections, unstable power, or while the vehicle battery is low.

Use a battery charger or maintainer during the write process. Do not interrupt the flash once writing has started.

Customer is responsible for having the proper tuning hardware, software, licensing, and stable equipment needed to read and flash the vehicle.
